Denmark is actively developing hydrogen energy as a source of energy for vehicles. As of August 2024, 8 hydrogen fueling stations were in operation in the country (Figure 7). Figure 8 shows the main bio-energy facilities in Denmark for energy production. In 2023, the total installed bioenergy capacity was 2.01 GW (Fig. 8).
According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, electricity production reached 33.95 TWh in 2023, dominated by renewable energy – about 89%; the share of fossil fuels was about 11% (Fig.6). According to the import of electricity into Denmark in 2023 amounted to 19.83 TWh.
The potential of small hydropower in Denmark is 9.75 MW; the installed capacity of small hydropower is also 7.0 MW, which indicates this resource is being fully exploited for electricity production in the country . 65.6% of Denmark is covered by agricultural land, while forest area accounts for only 15.8% of the country's territory .
Despite the fact that in terms of the share of thermal energy production from waste relative to the total production, Denmark ranks much lower than Switzerland - around 21% and 62%, respectively (although ahead of almost all other countries); the share of electricity production from waste is around 6% – the highest figure in the world .

Denmark has a long tradition of setting ambitious world-leading national energy targets. The country aims for renewables to cover at least half of the country''s total energy consumption by
The maps show Denmarks power producers and interconnectors in 1985 and 2015 respectively. This clearly shows the development from central to decentral power production in Denmark.
Denmark has 578 power plants totalling 12,832 MW and 11,415 km of power lines mapped on OpenStreetMap.

• The Danish transmission system is interconnected with the transmission systems of Germany, Sweden and Norway via DC lines. • Energinet.dk, an independent state-owned company established in 2005
In 2023 Denmark had 14.1 GW of electricity installed generating capacity. The hydropower market of Denmark is still decreasing and there are only few plants left.
The country has a significant number of stations for the production of electricity from fossil fuels, including power plants with a capacity of more than 100 MW, including one oil, two gas,
